1.0 "I use Outlook, but replies from Colonial Mail users have missing information"

Issue Details:

There are two scenarios in which an Outlook user may not be able to see information in the body of an email.

  • Outlook user can see the text of the original message, but not the text of the reply. A message with an attachment is sent from Outlook in either Rich Text or HTML format. The message is replied to in Plain Text from the Colonial Mail web client. The reply is viewed in Outlook, with the text of the reply missing.

Solution:

This is a problem with the way Outlook interprets attachments. Microsoft has acknowledged this problem, but has not provided a patch. To reduce the probability of this problem occurring, Outlook users should configure their client to send mail in plain text format.

Sending in Plain Text format will only ensure that Outlook users will always be able to view replies to their own messages.

1. In Outlook, select Options from the Tools menu. Select the Mail Format tab and select "Plain Text" from the drop-down box.
