Archiving Email With Apple's Mail, Mac OS 10.x

Archiving email helps you manage your disk space usage on the GWMail system by moving messages stored on the server to folders on your computer. Such folders are typically referred to as Local Folders. The process that follows is simply this: Connect to GWMail using Apple's Mail and then drag and drop folders from GWMail to On My Mac or sub folders under On My Mac. |

On Mail, the local folders are under On My Mac and here Suggest is the name of my IMAP connection to GWMail. Now, select the folder(s) you want to save from GWMail to your local computer and drag and drop them over On My Mac icon. In this example, I am transferring my acad folder from the GWMail server to my computer. Please note that you cannot overwrite existing folder(s) with a folder(s) of the same name. |

| Deleting Unwanted Messages/Folders | |

We recommend that you delete the message(s) and folder(s) that you have transferred from GWMail to your computer. If you have received a quota warning or are close to your quota, this is particularly helpful in freeing up space on your GWMail account. To delete messages and/or folders, select the messages (or folders) and click the Delete button or press the Delete key on the keyboard. |
