Configuring GW1X on Mac OS 10.6.X (Snow Leopard)
- Click the AirPort icon on the right side of the task bar at the top of your screen and select ‘Open Network Preferences.’
- Click on the ‘Advanced’ button in the lower right hand corner of the window.
- Select the ‘802.1X’ tab.
- Click the plus button in the lower left hand corner and choose “Add User Profile”.
- Name the profile “GW1X”.
- On the right-hand side enter your NetID (GW e-mail address before the @ symbol) and password.
- In the Authentication pane uncheck every box except TTLS.
- Select TTLS and press Configure.
- Change the TTLS Inner Authentication to ‘PAP’. Leave Outer Identity blank and press OK.
- Enter GW1X for the wireless network. If asked for Security Type, select ‘WPA2 Enterprise’.
- Press OK, which will return you to the Network pane. You must then click ‘Apply’ in the lower right corner.
- Click on the AirPort icon on the task bar and select the GW1X network.
- If you receive a certificate warning, click ‘Continue’ and you may receive a window ‘Authenticating to network “GW1X’.
Enter your NetID and password and click ‘OK’.
- Under the ‘802.1x: GW1X’ heading, you should see ‘Authenticated via TTLS’ and under that ‘Connected Time: ‘xx:xx:xx’.
You are now connected to GW1X.
- If you are still receiving an error, in some cases, the certificate may need to be deleted and recreated. In order to do this, please
follow these steps below:
- In order to remove the certificate that may be the cause of your issue, please make sure the desktop is
active, which you may need to click on your desktop to activate it.
- At the top of your screen in the menu bar, select “Go”, then select “Utilities”, then double-click the Keychain Access application.
Delete all certificates in your Keychain. When it is empty, proceed to click the AirPort icon on the right side of the task bar at the
top of your screen and select ‘Open Network Preferences.’
- Turn Airport ‘Off’ and then turn Airport ‘On’
- For network name, select ‘GW1X’.
- A pop-up to install a certificate will appear. Please enter your NetID and password. In ‘Network Preferences’ under the 802.1x:
GW1X heading, you should see ‘Authenticated via TTLS’ and under that ‘Connected Time: xx:xx:xx’
- You are now connected, please launch Safari and enjoy!
