Logging In For the First Time
  1. Dial 2-2000 when on campus (from your room or courtesy phone). Or dial (202) 242-2000 when calling from off-campus.
  2. Dial your 5-digit extension and the # sign. Your extension is the 2 + the last 4 digits of your telephone number.
  3. Dial 1 + # sign (default password).
  4. Listen to the following prompts.
  5. The system will ask you to say your first and last name. Follow prompts for recording and saving.
  6. The system will ask you to change the (default) password. You need to enter a new one from 5-12 digits + the # sign.
  7. The system will ask you to re-enter the password you just created (for security reasons).
  8. Once the above is complete, you will be in the Main Menu of the voicemail system. Listen to the prompts to create your own personal greeting.

Creating a Personal Greeting
  1. Log into the Voice Mail system as described in steps 1-3 above. Use the password you created instead of the default password.
  2. Press "3" from the main menu.
  3. Press "1" to create a personal greeting.
  4. Press "1" to create Greeting #1.
  5. Follow prompts to record your greeting.
  6. Once you have finished recording the greeting, you can listen to and/or re-record it by pressing "1" OR immediately approve it without listening to it by pressing the # sign.
  7. Press 1 to activate Greeting #1 (the one you just recorded).
  8. When finished, hang up.

Checking Your Voice Mail
  1. Dial 2-2000 (or 202-242-2000).
  2. Dial your 5-digit extension.
  3. Dial your new password (the one you created).
  4. Press "2" to retrieve your messages.
  5. Press "0" to listen to each message.
NOTE: After listening to each message, the system will give you 3 prompts from which to choose (forward message = press 1, delete message = press D (*3), or skip to the next message = press #). Once you listen to the message, it is best to delete it in order to save space in your voice mailbox. The more messages that are saved, the less space you have for family and friends to leave messages.
