Scanning for Viruses Manually & Automatically on Mac OS X (10.2.6)

The Norton AntiVirus LiveUpdate feature is quite user friendly. It is designed to automatically use your existing internet connection to download virus definitions from Symantec's server. LiveUpdate may either be run manually or configured to run automatically at defined intervals.

NOTE: We recommend you run LiveUpdate weekly or when a new virus is found.


Before you Begin ...
... You must ...
  1. ... have Norton Anti-Virus Corporate Edition Downloaded and Installed on your computer
  2. ... be connected to the Internet
  3. ... have run LiveUpdate and have the latest virus definitions installed (LiveUpdate for Mac OS X (10.2.6))

Running A Virus Scan Manually on Entire Hard Drive

1. Open NAV and under Disk View, select your hard drive. This will activate the Scan/Repair button. Click the Scan/Repair button to scan all the files on your hard drive.


Running A Virus Scan Manually on Specific Files and Folders

1. Open NAV and under File View, select files/folders you want to scan. You can select multiple files/folders. This will activate the Scan/Repair button. Click the Scan/Repair button to scan all the select files/folders.

In this example, I select the Documents folder under my hard drive.
