Agent Installation
Step 1
Add your GW NetID (WITHOUT the @gwu.edu) to your computer
description. This will allow the GWU patchmaster (patchy@gwu.edu) to
contact you regarding your computer patch status. For shared
workstations please use the NetID of the area supervisor
For Windows XP
- Right click on my Computer
- click properties
- click Computer name
- enter your GWmail address in the Description field.
- Click ok
For Windows 2K
- Right click on my Computer
- click Manage
- Right click on the Computer Management (Local) on the machine and choose properties.
- Change to the Network Identification Property Sheet and enter your gwmail address in the Description field.
- Click ok
Step 2 Go to http://helpdesk.gwu.edu/software/download.html
Select ZenWorks Patch Management Or copy and paste this link into your browser http://helpdesk.gwu.edu/software/download/win/patchy.exe
The download will ask for a Username and password. The Username is patchy and the password is patchy4iss.
Run patchy.exe. (If no run option is presented, save patchy.exe to an appropriate directory (e.g. c:\downloads, then double click and run).
If presented with a dialog like this
Click unzip. When the ok button appears, click ok and the installation will begin.
During the installation, your firewall may ask you to allow 3 programs
to access the internet. Setup should be allowed onetime access to the
internet. Gravatix and dupdate are the core patch management programs
and should be allowed anytime always on access to the internet When the
black installation message box disappears your installation is complete
Depending on your firewall configuration, you may need to add
patchy.gwu.edu to your list of allowed urls. The patchmaster
may contact you requesting this change.
