Terms of usage:

I understand and agree that the Virtual Private Network (VPN) software is for use solely to connect to internal information technology services in support of clinical, research, and educational missions of The George Washington University (the "University").

When using the VPN, I will act in accordance with the computing guidelines and restrictions as stated in the UniversityÕs Code of Conduct for Users of Computing Systems and Services, which can be found at http://my.gwu.edu/mod/upolicy/index.cfm?thisTab=2&indsho=0,144,152,145. In addition, I have read the list of sanctioned entities and restricted end-uses at http://www.cisco.com/wwl/export/compliance_provision.html. I understand that the distribution of the VPN software is restricted. I will not use or distribute the software in Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan or Syria or otherwise contrary to the requirements of law.

I understand that the resources available through the Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library website, the Gelman Library website, Aladin, or the Burns Law Library website are resources that have been licensed by the University libraries for use by faculty, staff and students. In general, these resources permit users to conduct their personal research and print or download individual copies of materials. These resources do not permit users to otherwise copy or distribute the contents, download large portions of the resources, or re-post the resources on the Internet.

I will use only my personal login and password to access the VPN and will not share my login and password with anyone. I will safeguard my VPN access as well as its components (software/security token if any) from any unauthorized use. I understand that my VPN usage is tied to my University affiliation (faculty, staff, or student) and that my VPN access may change if my affiliation changes.

Installation of up-to-date virus protection software and a personal firewall is required for computers on the VPN. Symantec anti-virus and personal firewall software is available, free of charge, from http://helpdesk.gwu.edu. Computers that do not comply with this requirement or are found to be infected with viruses or worms will be disconnected from University systems.

I understand that if I fail to abide by these conditions, my access to any and all University computer/information systems may be terminated and that action, up to and including legal action may be instituted against me.

Installation of the VPN client certifies that I have read and understood the above conditions under which I may use the VPN software to access University computer systems.
