Spam: Submit False Negatives & False Positives
Here you can submit email messages with headers that should have been marked as Spam or were incorrectly marked as Spam. Before You Submit Your Message:
» 1. Enable GW Anti-Spam Solution If you haven't already, enable GW's Anti-Spam solution by logging into the account management console with your NetID. Here is how: http://helpdesk.gwu.edu/mailfilter/antispam.html. » 2. Do not report legitimate mail as spam, even if you did not appreciate receiving it. Only report actual unsolicited commercial e-mail that was not caught by the spam filter, or legitimate mail that was caught inappropriately. GW reserves the right to review submissions to this page, and to take action, up and to including revocation of computing privileges, for the submission of false reports of legitimate messages as spam, or vice-versa. » 3. Got Outlook? If you do, you can install the BrightMail Plugin in for Outlook (not Outlook Express!) and submit messages directly to the spam filtering software vendor. 1. Displaying Message Headers Using:
» Colonial Mail: Log into Colonial Mail. Open the message in question. On the "From" line, at the far right-hand side of the message window, you will see an arrow pointing to the right. Click on the arrow to view the full message header. To view return to viewing brief message headers, simply click on the same arrow (which will be pointing down). Highlight all the headers and the message and press ctrl-c to copy them all. » Netscape 4.7 (Mac OS and Windows): Click on View → Headers → All. Highlight all the headers and the message and press ctrl-c (Apple-c on Mac OS) to copy them all. » Outlook (Windows): Right-click on the message in question. Left-click on Options and look for Internet Headers at the bottom of the Message Options window. Highlight all the headers and press ctrl-c to copy them all. Paste this header into the the 2b below. Then go back and copy the entire email message in question and paste in 2b below after the headers. » Outlook Express (Windows): Click on the message in question. Click File → Properties → Details → Message Source. Highlight all the text and press ctrl-c to copy them all. » Pine: Type "h" to display headers. Highlight all the headers and the message and press ctrl-c (Apple-c on Mac OS) to copy them all. |
