GWireless - GW Unplugged

GWireless is GW’s secure wireless network available on select locations on the Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon, and Virginia campuses.

To use GWireless, you will need:

A computer with a Windows XP or higher, or Mac OS X 10.3 or higher operating system
An 802.11b, 802.11g or higher wireless network card
GW’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) web-based or desktop client downloaded and installed on your computer
Your GW NetID to log onto GWireless using the VPN client
A compatible browser*

*Internet Explorer 6+ and Safari are compatible with the GWireless system, and should be used when connecting to GWireless. (After logging in to the GWireless system, you can opt to use an alternate browser such as Firefox. Users of Snow Leopard (OS 10.6) will not be able to use the Juniper SSL VPN client to connect to GWireless. Users of Snow Leopard may click here to install the Cisco VPN client to connect to GWireless.

FAQs

The preferred way to connect to the George Washington University Virtual Private Network using either the Internet Explorer or Safari web browser is located at http://vpn.gwu.edu. After a successful connection, browsing may be performed within other browsers.

Users of Snow Leopard and others wishing to install the Cisco VPN client to connect to GWireless may click here.

Simply visit http://vpn.gwu.edu and login with your NetID username and password.
